About Alexandra Avenue Children's Centre

Welcome to Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten, a welcoming and inclusive place where every child and family is respected, valued, and supported. We celebrate diversity in all its forms and believe every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and confident to be themselves. This belief is woven through everything we do, from our learning programs to the way we connect with children and families each day.

Our play-based learning approach encourages curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Children are supported to learn through hands-on experiences, with opportunities to build social skills, emotional understanding, and a strong sense of wellbeing. Our outdoor learning spaces invite children to move, explore, and connect with nature, supporting their physical development and growing independence.

Our dedicated educators take the time to build meaningful relationships with every child. We guide and support children to become confident learners and active participants in their world, nurturing their strengths and supporting them at their own pace.

We are proud to be part of the local community and work closely with schools, Brimbank City Council, local health providers, and cultural leaders, including Elder Uncle Trevor. These partnerships enrich our program and strengthen children’s sense of belonging and connection.

At Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten, families are at the heart of our community, and we look forward to supporting your child through their early learning journey.

Our Leadership Team

Despina Sarandoglou, Centre Director

Hello, my name is Despina, and I am the Centre Director at Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre and Kindergarten. I have worked with BPA and in the early years sector for over 10 years, and my passion has always been supporting children and families through these important early years. Stepping into a leadership role has allowed me to help shape positive outcomes every day, not just for children, but for the families and educators who support them. What makes our centre truly special is the strength and stability of our team. With low staff turnover, many years of combined experience, and a genuine spirit of collaboration, we are able to provide a consistent, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children feel secure and supported, and where educators can do their best work. I am incredibly proud of our team and the warm, welcoming community we have built together.

“A warm, nurturing environment that feels like a second home.”

“First we’d like to thank you and the wonderful educators for supporting Daisy and Sydney. Your care and dedication mean so much to us. Seeing Sydney run into the educator’s arms each morning fills us with happiness and reassurance.
The educators create a safe and inclusive space where our kids feel valued, and engaging learning activities foster curiosity and confidence. The strong sense of community makes us feel truly connected…”

“All days are good days.”

“For us, the special thing about your centre is the excellent communication we have with you and Henry’s carers. It makes us feel really safe and confident each day. We love hearing that Henry has played all day, and the communication we receive at the end of the day means so much to us.”

“A space which feels so calm and relaxed.”

“what makes Alexandra Avenue special is the wonderful outdoor environments and the huge variety of experiences planned across all areas of development. The flexible learning spaces encourage children’s voice in both indoor and outdoor play and learning. The educators are welcoming, happy, and caring, and they already know Elias so well. It brings us so much comfort knowing how happy he is when he is at the centre.”
