Healthy eating

Fresh, warm meals made right here in our kitchens

At BPA, children enjoy healthy food every day.
All meals are cooked onsite by our own cooks and chefs who know the children and what they like.
We use simple, fresh ingredients and child-friendly recipes so children feel happy and nourished.

Healthy food helps children learn, grow, and feel calm during the day.

What your child eats each day

Children in our childcare and integrated kindergarten programs receive:

  • breakfast
  • morning tea
  • a warm lunch
  • fresh fruit throughout the day
  • afternoon tea
  • a late snack
  • water all day

Our menus are designed to give children the right balance of food for growing bodies.

Approved, safe, and nutritious menus

All BPA menu plans are checked through the Healthy Eating Advisory Service, a Victorian Government program. This helps us make sure every child gets the right nutrition for their age and stage.

Cooked onsite by people who know your child

Our cooks and chefs prepare meals in your centre’s kitchen each day.
They see the children daily, talk with educators, and understand what each child enjoys.

This means:

  • warm food straight from the kitchen
  • meals that suit children’s tastes
  • extra support for children trying new foods
  • calm, relaxed mealtimes

Children feel safe when food comes from familiar people.

A menu for real families

We create simple, flavourful meals that children love, such as:

  • rice dishes
  • pasta meals
  • stews and curries
  • vegetables and salads
  • warm breads
  • seasonal fruit

We use recipes that reflect the many cultures in Melbourne’s west.

Allergies and dietary needs

We work closely with families to support:

  • allergies
  • intolerances
  • cultural food needs
  • vegetarian diets
  • halal requirements (centre-dependent)

We take safety very seriously.

Educators double-check every meal before serving children with allergies.

You can always speak to us about your child’s needs.

Trying new foods

Children learn about food by:

Helping prepare simple items

Seeing educators model healthy eating

We never force children to eat.
We encourage them gently and celebrate small steps.

Mealtimes are learning moments

Mealtimes are calm, social, and supportive.

Children learn to:

  • feed themselves
  • pour water
  • share with others
  • sit together
  • use simple table manners
  • talk about food and health

These moments build confidence and independence.

Water all day and food safety

Children have access to water throughout the day.
We do not serve juice or sugary drinks.

All BPA centres follow strict food safety rules, including:

  • safe storage
  • clean preparation
  • allergy management
  • staff training
  • regular checks

You can trust that every meal is prepared with care.
