About Orama Street Child Care Centre

Welcome to Orama Street Child Care Centre, we believe it truly takes a village to raise a child. That belief shapes everything we do, every day.

We see ourselves as an extension of each child’s family. Building strong, trusting relationships with families is central to our approach, grounded in open communication, mutual respect, and genuine partnership. We proudly embrace the cultural diversity of our community and celebrate the unique backgrounds, stories, and identities of our children and families.

We respectfully acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations custodians of this land and honour their enduring connection to Country.

Our learning programs are built around meaningful, engaging experiences that support each child’s growth. Through play, exploration, and intentional teaching, children are encouraged to build confidence, develop new skills, and follow their natural curiosity. We focus on creating learning moments that feel purposeful, joyful, and deeply engaging.

By offering rich experiences and positive interactions, we support children to grow, learn, and reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Our Leadership Team

Alison Dawson, Centre Director

Hello, my name is Alison Dawson, and I’m the Centre Director at Orama Street Child Care Centre. I joined BPA in 2004 as an early childhood educator, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated educators, some of whom I still work with today. In 2018, I completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, which allowed me to step into a leadership role and support a committed, diverse team of educators who genuinely care about children and families. What I value most about my role is the strong relationships we build. Over my 21 years with BPA, I’ve cared for and supported many children, and it has been incredibly special to now welcome some of them back as parents. That continuity of trust, respect, and care is at the heart of what we do here at Orama Street. Our centre is proudly multicultural, and we celebrate the rich diversity of our families and staff. We work closely with families to create a warm, respectful environment where children feel safe, supported, and confident to learn and grow. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking long walks with my grandson and my dog Molly, and exploring Victoria through caravanning with my partner, Craig. I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Orama Street Children’s Centre.
