BPA’s Board provides independent oversight and clear direction to ensure the organisation acts in line with its purpose and responsibilities as a not-for-profit early learning provider. The Board holds ultimate responsibility for BPA’s strategy, performance, and long-term sustainability, ensuring decisions are made lawfully, ethically, and in the best interests of children, families, staff, and the communities we serve. Through strong governance and accountability, the Board supports high-quality, inclusive early learning across Melbourne’s west.
Dean Mizzi is a Chartered Accountant and the Head of Business Performance for a large global law firm headquartered in London. His role focuses on financial sustainability across the Asia–Pacific region. Dean chairs BPA’s Finance and Risk Committee and, as Treasurer, supports strong financial governance and long-term stability for the organisation.
Susan brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across the health and education sectors. Her previous roles include Deputy CEO of beyondblue and, more recently, CEO of Gowrie Victoria, a leading early childhood education and care provider.
Susan is a registered psychologist and holds an Executive MBA from UNSW (AGSM). She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Eleanor is an experienced policy analyst, researcher, and lawyer with a background spanning government, not-for-profit, and international organisations. She currently works as a consultant specialising in policy reviews and evaluations across the health and social services sectors.
Eleanor holds Bachelor’s degrees in Law and Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Master’s degree in International Law from New York University. She also brings a parent perspective to the Board, with her youngest child currently attending a BPA service.
Lana Chung brings almost 10 years’ experience working in the Victorian public service and currently works for a statutory body within the Department of Health. This is her first board appointment, and she joins BPA with a strong interest in contributing as an engaged parent and community member.
Lana holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Department of Social Inquiry at La Trobe University. She brings policy insight, research capability, and a parent perspective to the Board, with a clear interest in supporting positive outcomes for children and families.
Alainnah Calabro is a Victorian public sector executive with more than 10 years’ experience, specialising in strategic advice and policy reform. She joined the BPA Board as an engaged parent, bringing strong insight into public policy, governance, and regulatory environments.
Alainnah holds a Bachelor of Arts/Laws (Honours) from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
BPA’s Board works closely with the Executive team to provide strong governance, oversight, and long-term direction.
Together, they ensure BPA remains financially responsible, child-safe, and focused on delivering high-quality early learning for families across Melbourne’s west.
